During this time she has to let go of her old ways of thinking and learn how to trust again, and come to understand that not all beings want to harm her. When she wakes up in a warm room and has no idea where she is, all her trusting instincts are put on trial when she has to decide whether to trust this handsome young man, or not. When Cassie has to survive on her own with no one to help her, she barely makes it when she gets shot by a silencer and almost freezes to death out in the bitter cold with no shelter to protect her from the freezing winter. In this world you really don’t know who to trust since the fourth wave brought the silencers, aliens in form of humans, created to trick the human race and assassinate as many of them as possible. Her plan to stay alive is to trust no one, which helps her but also makes it even harder when she meets Evan Walker. Because throughout the novel you can clearly see that the importance of the characters' trust of each other, is very significant and in a lot of cases it was the only way for them to survive the alien invasion.Ĭassie, short for Cassiopeia, is challenged the most in the issue of trust. In this novel, the main theme is constantly reappearing in different situations, and I believe that this is the message of the book that the author wants to convey to the reader. Trust is the Key to the Survival of Humanity
